Postby Marauder 1 » Fri Jan 20, 2012 7:18 am

Classic Arms is selling Chinese Type 53 Mosin Nagant's for 149.00, in case you don't know the type 53 is the Chinese version of the Russian M44. These are supposed to have awesome triggers.

I bought one of the beat-to hell T53's from Omega last year. While the barrel ended up being junk, I did switch the trigger spring bolt stop over into my favorite 91/30, which now has just under a 3lb trigger pull. There wasn't any difference in measurements on them, the sear face angle was a tad different but not much, I'm thinking maybe the hardness of the metal that the Chinese used versus the Russians.

Haven't seen posts from buyers from Classic, so far the SOG ones seems to be good.

I saw the ads as well. I've had quite a few of the Chinese Type 53's over the years. Most of the Type 53's I've seen have looked rather worn or tattered. However the metal has usually been in pretty decent condition and the bores have always been decent.

I recall that the Type 53's had chrome lined bores. Maybe someone else can chime in with their thoughts?

Mine resembled a sewer pipe, so I can't confirm that, lol.
