Springfield XD40 to 9mm Conversion

Postby Marauder 1 » Sun Aug 21, 2016 3:46 pm

I just found that Storm Lake Barrels makes a 40S&W to 9mm drop in conversion barrel. This looks like a great option for shooting a lighter caliber out of the XD40 frame. I've heard great things about Storm Lake barrels. Stainless Steel, Match Grade and USA produced. I also found EFK Fire Dragon Barrels as well but they were a bit more. I might try and get the Fire Dragon with a set of ports later on. I've quickly come to really love the XD frame, it's like Lego blocks build what you want.

9mm is a nice configuration for practice shooting...
One more thing, I'm pretty sure, that you will need 9mm mag also... .40S&W will not work for thinner 9mm Luger cartridge.

Yes you're correct Dimitry, I will. But for the 130.00 for the barrel and the mag it's tough to find a XD for that price.

It basically gives me the same grip and configuration just in 9mm. I will have to mark the Magazines so I don't confuse them.

EFK Fire Dragon is my favorite company for aftermarket stuff...
I've equipped my SIG with barrels & especially their dual action recoil string systems... Those springs are FAR superior to anything available on aftermarket gun parts today. Period!

Came home from work today and look what was at my doorstep. Now I just need a 9mm mag.

I've also been toying with the idea of getting a 5 inch with ports for it. Someone told me that the longer barrel will cause the sites to be off. Anyone have experience with that?
