Russia Specnaz will never use Glock for various reasons, just like American Special Forces will never use AKs... I hope you understand....
9mm in NATO is very different from Russian equivalent...
Just as different 7.62x54r for Mosin & for earlier WWII Soviet Machine guns for air planes...
Russians use VERY hot cartridges with hardened steel rods making sure it will take care body armor...
You know how they call FMJ ? - "soft", it is official designation...

If you think that Glock is ugly, think again...
Here is Russian GSH-18
Watch on youtube.com

I'm not praising this pistol at all, I heard that it has 30lb over trigger pull, how they shoot it accurately is a pure mystery...
Every single gun review I've ever watched on Russian channels, I've never heard a word about weight of trigger pull... I guess, they just don't care about it at all...

Here is a little taste of what Cpecnaz use today & how they train, from Vickers Tactical...
The pistol they use is "Strike One" or "Strizh" - "Swift" (As it known in Russia), I'm not sure if they actually adopted the pistol, quite possible, but it is definitely not Glock, since in factory configuration Glock's barrel will not withstand hot armor piercing round, which is the same for GSH-18 or for any other pistol they would possibly use.
Once Russians start to produce certain ammo, all service pistols must be able to us it. A pistol is made around accepted ammo, never vice versa...
SO, Glock can not possibly EVER be accepted by Cpecnaz, Sorry... :|

Is it true that Glock works on Gen 5?
Never held in my hands even Gen 4, remember, I'm Californian, that means, totally screwed... Yet, I have a hope, and as you know well, a rat with a hope survives the most... (I hope, you know, what I'm talking about... if not, send me private message, I'll explain...)))
So, will Gen 5 solve ALL "Glock issues"? Quite possible... Time will show, but for now, lets enjoy the rumors...)))

I know there are Glock adamant people out there that will practically try to burn you at the stake for saying anything bad about the Glock. Someday we will have to add a few more chapters to Fox's Book of Martyrs. lol

Just to be accurate about the whole thing regarding U.S. Special Ops using AK's .....U.S. Spec-Ops have been using Ak-47's for over forty years , when the mission required it .
American Special Operations people use what-ever weapon might be "Mission specific" to THAT particular "OP". Regardless of what nation it came from . I've been in Armory rooms that held weapons from twenty-five or thirty different nations . Having the wrong weapon ; in the wrong place , at the wrong time , is not a good thing . And for the record ; a majority of American spec-ops people rate the AK as one of the best combat weapons ever devised .

Guess it all boils down to whether you do ; or do not like a Glock pistol , period . If you don't like them , you never will . If you like the Glock , for what-ever reason , you always will .
But the nit-picking and "raggin" about this doesn't fit right , and that part could be made better , and why didn't they do this part this way becomes nothing more than a lot of whining . If you buy a $400.00 handgun , why do you expect it to have all of the bells , whistles , and features of a $2,000 custom made "Comp" gun , and then bitch about how big a piece of junk it is , because it doesn't meet your expectations ?

I don't try to compare my G22 to a G17 . They are not the same gun .Trying to do so is just rationalization of some debating point .

The Army Colt .45 is considered the standard of combat pistols , world-wide , and I have carried them in combat . People swear by them , as the "God Gun", of combat pistols , but take it from someone who's been there . They have one serious , MAJOR , deficiency . They only carry five rounds ! Six ; with one in the pipe . You'd have to carry twelve mags to equal the fire-power of my G22's four mags . Weight is crucial to a combat field soldier . Same argument the DoD used to take away the M-14 , and give us that POS M-16 , that got a lot of people killed in Nam . Big difference was ; they took away our fire-power , and gave us a over-sized B.B.gun .

Comparing the G22 , .40cal Glock to the .45 is a fair comparison . Check the ballistics . And you get 15 or 16 rounds , instead of 5 or 6 . I'll take my G22 , thank you . It's ugly , but it works . And like my Grand-dad told me .
"Stop fixin it , It ain't broke" !

Nightmares with my Glock...

Postby iridium-192 » Thu Sep 29, 2016 11:04 am

"AK" is a very broad concept. 47ths AKs are no longer in common service, since they were replaced with newer versions of various weaponry made by Kalashnikov concern. I highly doubt that US ministry of Defence has any contracts with Russian Federation for delivering AKs to US Special Forces, nor they need any, well, unless to equip some "moderate" rebels aka jihadists in Syria to fight government forces....)))) if that's what you mean by "if mission is required"...

Nightmares with my Glock...

Postby iridium-192 » Thu Sep 29, 2016 11:52 am

Glock 26 has attracted me by a price & 10rds in a mag & light weight, as well as known reliability. Well, I've learned a lot since my first experience of my G26. You're right, there is nothing to fix, either accept it or reject it. Most of all my experience with pistols is based on Sigs pistols.... So, Glock is a bit different...
If only I would be able to obtain Sig 320 in sub compact version, there would be no questions what I would buy... But again, I would be very wrong with my choice, since it is based on my personal assumption that Sig is better...

You are sooooo correct , Dmitri . We ( U.S. ) do not have any contracts with Kalashnikov for weapons of any sort .
These AK's ; 47's-74's and other derivatives were captured all over the world , and brought back to be added to our arsenals for use when need-be . I have even seen a couple of the 500 Romanian-made SVD Dragonov Sniper rifles , chambered in 7.62x51 , at Ft. Bragg , N.C....And they do get "used" on occasion , when required .

And I ; along with most everyone on this site would agree with you on your statement about "choice" regarding choosing a Sig , if they made a similar model , for all the same reasons . Like ; why would a die-hard Hemi guy wouldn't ever consider buying a Camaro . Why buy "second best" ? To their thinking .

There are only a couple of the Glocks I would even consider buying . I have one ; The G22-.40 , and the other is the six inch barreled .40 cal model . Maybe someday ; when I get rich , I can afford a $700.00 hand-gun . I got the 9mm drop-in barrel for emergencies and ammo availability . The rest of the Glocks , I'd take a pass on . Not impressed at all . And Yes ! They are U-G-L-Y

We do send "Teams" to places where they would stand-out if they were carrying current American weapons , so when in Rome ? Using weapons that are standard to the area is common-place in Spec-Ops .
And ammo would also be more available . Whole lot more 7.62x39 in the middle east , than 300 Blackout , or other types of common American ammo .

Another reason the .40cal was adopted by SOCOM . .40cal ammo is available nearly all over the world , now . And it is all the same . Not special for NATO...
