Nightmares with my Glock...

Postby iridium-192 » Sun Jul 31, 2016 7:21 pm

Ok, I have never been a big fan of Glock family... (Just like Capuleti clan did not like Montecchi clan, remember Romeo & Juliett?...)
After years of owning Sig P226 in all calibers, rebuilding one & upgrading, testing & even torturing & having fun every second of owning this great all around pistol, I have sinned... I have purchased Glock 26...
From that day I feel like I've committed adultery...

Anyways, since I've transgressed already & brought in to my family of guns this heinous plastic creature, I've decided to share with you my insignificant experience & what I think about it...

How it all started... About 6 months ago I've got new co-worker whom I had to train... Well, after 6 months of working with me & my constant indoctrination of him in a way of truth, my new co-worker (Unbelievably liberal guy..., well, use to be)))) have decided to join NRA & buy a gun! He went with me couple of times to a range & really liked my Sig P226... but, since we just couldn't locate ANY new SIGs for sale in our area ("Thank you" California  ...) , All guns for sale were made of plastic (Glocks, Berettas, Rugers, Springfield armories.... except of 1911s...)
He really liked idea of "double - single action, just like in my P226, Since we couldn't find any Sig, he choose Beretta PX4 .40S&W, which would offer the same option (single & double action) & I wanted to show my support, I've chosen something different, SO, I've purchased Glock 26!

Not knowing anything about Glocks, I've purchased cheapest reloaded ammo at local gun store & went with my co-worker & my son to the range... As soon as I've loaded & made first shots with that ammo, my Glock greatly disappointed me!
Almost every other round it would jam or double feed, I had problems with ejecting the rounds & overall, my brand new Glock just SUCKED BIT TIME!
Same Ammo would perform just fine in my Sig in 9mm configuration! EVERY SINGLE TIME!
I came to a conclusion that Glock is NOT overall is such a great gun... After that, everything in my Glock start to irritate me greatly, first - it is made of plastic (which is just WRONG for a gun!), second - whoever designed it, have know idea about of ergonomics... (Unbelievably uncomfortable Gun to shoot, ANY Glock for this matter...), third- Trigger - ARE YOU KIDDING ME?    BIG TIME!
Overall - my first day of owning Glock was not glorious at all & I honestly regret about this purchase... I am.

In fact, I can't help but to express my self in Russian (Use Google, to translate...) Глок - полное ГОВНО!

Now, since I own it & have no time to run around like an idiot to sell it (since everybody just LOVE this "AWESOME & GREAT ALL AROUND" gun), tell me honestly, what is the problem with this gun & why it did not perform the way it claim it would?
Thank you!

Trigger problem I've solved partly, I hope so, by purchasing very expensive but highly praised product of "ZEV" products...
Just this upgrade raised the price of my Glock practically 30%....
Did not test it yet, but feels much better then factory one (dry fire...)

The Glock was my duty pistol over the years until we went over to the SIG 227 ( a real beauty!!). I've probably fired 5000 rounds thru the various Glocks over the years and found that they require a firm, solid grip or they'll malfunction (not all of them, but enough to make me think it's an issue). Other than that, I can't think of anything that would give you issues Iridium. I liked carrying them, but could never warm up enough to lay the cold hard cash down that the dealers around here were asking for them. We had issues with the Glock 21 and short cycling when we used a full magazine. Leave out one round and they worked great, but top off the mag and it would short cycle on the first round every time. That's how we wound up with SIGs.

Quite possible, there is no much grip to grab to G26
I didn't have problems with G22, just didn't like ergonomics & accuracy VS SIG P226 overall...

+1 Mark!! I wish I knew someone here with a G26 to ask them. Everyone I know with a small Glock has the 40 cal or the 380. Keep sending the Russian phrases :D ...it comes in handy!!

I can't comment on the short cycles because I always stack mine one shy for extending life on the mag spring. But so far I have never had a single failure to feed or jam out of any of my glocks. And I'm hard on them. I have never cleaned any of them. Ever. My G22 is VERY accurate with 165 grain ammo. I do not own a 26 either so I can't comment directly on that gun. If I had those problems I'd be sending it in for a checkup. I'm sure they'll make it right.

There's a rotten tomato in every basket though. I have a brand new ruger I'm going to have to send in because it jams on the last shot 9/10 times.

I carried a G37 prior to the G21 and never had an issue either. I understand there was a problem for a batch, but I never found out what the issue ultimately was. One thing I'll say for them, they are bone tough and simple to use. I love the sights on them!

Iridium ; you said you used "cheap" ammo , but never told us what it was ....I do know that Glocks highly dis-like steel case ammo , especially 9mm Glocks . .40 S&W Glocks will tolerate it for a while , but not a long while . I have a Model 22 , .40S&W , and absolutely love mine . Best tactical handgun I've ever owned , and I've had a few good ones , like a H&K Ps9 .

I have a 9mm conversion barrel , and I do my own loading for both calibers . Others are right , though . You do have to have a "firm" grip on a Glock , and any weak-wristing will cause the gun to jamb during extraction .

Sorry you've had a bad experience with Glock . But if you feel that something may be wrong with the gun , contact a local "Glockmeister" and have them go through it .
If not me.....Who ?
If not now ....When ?
