Mannlicher Mosin

Has anyone put a M-N into a Mannlicher stock? I am looking at one like this at gunstocks.com.

I think it would look really nice, but I don't know if the longer stock would mess with the barrel harmonics.

Well, if you float the barrel, the stock won't matter. The inletting would be the issue. If the stock is inlet for a Mosin, then great. You should check out Boyds stocks before you buy, though.

If is inlet, but not for Mosin, I would not get it, the differences could be a big problem.

IF (and that's a big if) you can get it inleted, the longer stock should only help support the barrel and minimize the harmonics. The 91/30 comes with a mile long stock from the armory.

The best barrel length is between 20 and 24 inches depending on who you talk to. 91/30s are pretty accurate - but - you can increase there potential my shortening the barrel to reduce the harmonics and barrel whip.
