M28/30 winging it's way here!!

Postby Marauder 1 » Sat Jun 01, 2013 10:09 pm

First let me publicly thank Darrel of SCGUNCO for finding this gem for me. If your looking for a Mosin that is out of the ordinary give Darrel a call. It might take a while but he comes up with some goodies. Anyway that being said my M28/30 has been shipped to my FFL and so I now have the 2 weeks to wait until I can bring her home to meat her sisters. I'll take some photos at the FFL when I inspect the rifle and post them.

Well it's the waiting game now... Argh.

Does Cali have a two week waiting period for all guns? Up here in Washington there's only a 5 day waiting period on handguns, and that's waived if you have your CPL (which I do). I can barely wait for them to ship. I can't imagine having to wait two whole weeks when you know it's just sitting there. Anyway, glad to hear he found one for you. I know this goes without saying, but be sure to post pics of it immediately :D

Congrats on finding her. Guess I'm lucky here. I can go shopping and bring her home the same day I find her, handgun or long gun.

If a rifle comes from out of state or it had to be shipped from instate it would have to go through an FFL if you don't have the C&R yourself. Last winter two people drove 200 and 350 miles to pick up M27, M28 and 29/30 rifles FTF. One older fellow had his daughter drive him 180 miles to pick up pre-billboard '42,43 and '44 M39's but that all ends this next January but till then you can get by with a photo copy of a DL with a hand written statement on the page the buyer is clean. One guy brought a copy of his LE ID and DL for a Swede AG42 set.

I will be interesting to watch prices in December as people realize FTF is ending..LOL

Anyone need a new Danish M47 30-06 set? PM for pictures.

.... ....

FTF is face to face... no going through an FFL.

Well I took a drive down to Simi to do my CA paper work and had a look at the M28/30. Tim the owner said this was one of the smoothest cycling Mosin Nagant's he's ever seen. And it's true.

Man I wish this rifle could talk, it's got grim on the fore end and but stock it's covered in dings. The barrel is however beautiful. The bluing is about 30 percent, she's mostly in the white. Has the HV on the magazine and all serials match.

The above picture shows a metal plug in the stock just behind the front barrel clip. I believe these were M27 stocks that were pressed into service on the M28's.
