Acton bedding

Postby TNoldy » Tue Mar 10, 2015 11:08 am

Hi guys, I'am a new OLD guy and live in east Tenn. I've got a question about bedding my mosin action into a ATI sporter stock. I hope this gets to the right area, I'am new at this. Anyway glad to be one of the club. My question is I'am going to bed the action with Acraglas gel, and piller posts. It all on order. I want to extend the bedding out to where the chamber dips into the straight part of the barrel. Will that make a good strong base? The rest of the barrel will be floating. Need some input.
Thanks

That will be perfectly fine, I normally bed out to about the middle of the rear sight...

HEY farmerboy78
I tried to send you a thank you but guess it didn't go so I'll try again. Anyway thanks for the info. I wasn't sure how far out to go and still have barrel float. Been sanding and polishing on the bolt. Its looking and working a lot better. I think when these rifles were manufactured, they had a worker in a little shed, building the bolt. The problem was the only tool he had was a HATCH, that's why they are kind of rough. Again thanks.

Yeah some can be crude, the earlier versions with the hex action had more time taken with them...good luck.
