Scopes What is you favorite and why?

Postby Marauder 1 » Tue Apr 19, 2011 3:36 pm

I've been looking at scopes for a couple of rifles and thought I'd throw it out here for discussion. What is your favorite scope brand, type and size for the Mosin Nagant.
Thanks
Mark

My favorite would be a Unertl. They have the crispest glass I've ever seen. Of course, I think they're all fixed and REALLY expensive. So... I don't own one. But I've shot through them. Beautiful. Works of art.

Good value with Bushnell.

I've tried Simmons, Weaver, BSA and Tasco, but had the best of luck w/ a Bushnell Trophy 2-6x32 LER Handgun Scope w/ Multi-X Reticle on my 91/30.

My M44 sports a TruGlo red dot that has held up real well, but if you have good eyesight, it's hard to beat the original irons for price and holding zero.

"BSA" Tactical Mil-Dot Rifle Scope 30mm Tube 6-24x 44mm Side Focus - not expensive, clear optic, holds zero no problem with countless rounds shot… I had 2 of them.
For my new project I’ll install Leatherwood 7-30x50 Uni-Dial Riflescope Top Focus Mil-dot Reticle. Never used it before but I’m sure It’ll be good replacement for “BSA”. I really like its design with moveable indicators (flags) to set multiple zeroes… I gotta try one even though it is twice more expensive…
Here is pretty good site with lowest prices so far for the item I was looking for...

In my opinion nothing , absolutely nothing beats Zeiss... I have Schmidt & Bender as well as Zeiss and the Zeiss has by far the best glass in the business.

With that said, I also own a lot of Leupold variations. I believe that the investment in your glass should be at least twice the investment in your rifle. Because, if you can not see it, you will never hit it.

Mueller 8.5 - 25x44 mm AO Tactical scope. I have tried others, this Mueller is the best in it's price range.

for 123.03 this scope is hard to beat , they need some work to install but i really like them. I think they were put together in some 3rd world country because the reticle on both of mine are off and the pins in the scope rings are not indexed correctly. That just means you may have to grind the pins a tad to fit the rail and shim the scope body if you want the full range of adjustment. Mine are under the FN brand , then they disappeared and came back under the Aim brand.

I always liked the Burris line. Especially the 6x fixed power. But since I have 13 kids now, I like what I can afford. :? :D :o
Don't know where I'm going, but there's no sense being late.
