Great buy, however, just a reminder for all the Cali shooters these are steel-jacketed and banned on public lands in our fair dictatorship.

Wideners has copper jacketed suplus heavy ball for $130.95 225rd tin.

Has anyone tried this ammo?

It says in the description lead core copper jacket. Doesn't say anything about steel? Can you guys in Cali not shoot lead either?

The Blue Box stuff is Berdan primed. I wonder if it's corrosive or not.

I have almost 1000 rounds of this ammo. Made in 1971. It's corrosive --- it is copper plated steel jacket lead core = measures .309 dia. -- put a magnet to it if you don't believe me. I save it for a special day. When I run out of all my other ammo. LOL

You can target shoot lead, but not hunt with it. Go figure.

Here is what is said on Graf's sales page

This is the Soviet made 7.62x54R cartridge. Loaded in 1971, using match-grade extruded powder and have a 182 gr boat-tailed FMJ copper-plated steel-jacketed projectile with a lead core. Loaded by “Factory 188”, the cartridges are head-stamped with the number “188” and the year of manufacture. They are packaged 20 rounds to a paper box, 12 boxes per metal tin, and two tins per wooden case. Berdan primed cases.

After all the reading/research I've been doing on this and other sites regarding ammo/reloading I figured the odds on getting my hands on any Yellow box were two. Slim....and "freakin" NONE. So I saw this was available at what seemed like a reasonable market price and ordered a case.
I think like Shepard , and since they sent me a spam can , and twelve seperate boxes , the spam can goes into "Deep" storage and the boxes will be used judiciously , for special purpose. But available for "need". :shh:
I do have a couple of local area suppliers with a consistent supply of "common" 148 grn mil-surp. at decent price.
If not me.....Who ?
If not now ....When ?

I got a mini spam can and yet to crack her open...hoping she can be good for special occasions ...I thought all berdan primers were corrosive? .....is that not true when it comes to mosin ammo?
