m/39, 400 meters, offhand plate shooting

Postby Johann_Schmidt » Tue Aug 14, 2018 4:29 pm

I have a new place set up with 20cm and 30cm plates and up to 700 meters prone possibility of shooting. Sadly, between 270 and 700 meters only standing offhand is possible.

Don't take the "mosins s**k" comment too seriously. I hate feeding malfunctions inherent in all brands and makes of mosin.

This was from 400 meters last weekend.

This was the 700 meters position. I could not score hits, the ground was wet so we could not see the hits (no dust clouds). We had 10x and 28x scopes on the spotters.

After walking all the distance back, the road was full of hits so the bullets fell low.

I'm trying again probably 2nd October, and a friend will be trying with his StG58 at the same time.

I also loaded some expensive loads for my 8.2mm mosin, I may try shooting them with it, it has a 10x scope.

The revolver on my hip is a 44mag Ruger Blackhawk. 100 meter hits on plates are easy with it.
