Burbank Rifle and Revolver ClubThis is a cool range, and while it's not open to the public but does host shooting completions. I'm going to call and see when the next long range shoot is.

Good Job! Great point there too, you do not have to be a member to shoot the competitions. I think they must be open to the public for Official certification.
You will want to contact a co-ordinator ahead of time to see if you need special access to the facility. Our ranges are gated and members have RFID badges, but I think they give temp gate codes to non-members for competitions.

Santa Margarita Gun Club
The SMGC holds competitive shooting events on the Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base at Wilcox Range 103.

F-Class Rifle

F-Class Rifle is a fairly young format in competitive rifle sports, where competitors use bolt-action or semi-auto rifles with a front and/or rear rest from the prone position. Such rests include bipods and ‘mechanical’ pedestal type benchrests. F-Class allows the use of optics (scopes) on rifles.

The are two specific F-Class categories in the NRA rules: 1) F-T/R and 2) F-Open

F-T/R is the more restrictive of the two categories. F-T/R consists of only .223 Remington and .308 Winchester chambered rifles, and only allows the use of a bipod (and/or sling).

F-Open allows for any adjustable type of front rest with a rear bag, and has no cartridge restrictions, except a caliber restriction of .35 maximum.

Shooters that wish to participate in an SMGC event with an F-Class rifle (scoped, front rest) can enter in any Mid-Range or Long Range match.

This is another place for you guys in the San Diego area to check out.

To further clarify, F-Class is a somewhat new discipline within the 'Highpower' category. 'Highpower' matches are often shot at 200-600 distances using optical sights, the main difference being Highpower does not allow the use of a bipod or front rest. Positions can be prone or sometimes they mix it up depending on the distances.

Also, while our weekly league allows the use of muzzlebrakes, they are prohibited in competition. So if you are there just to shoot and they allow them, you are OK. Be sure to check ahead of time.

No one laying prone wants a guy with a MB next to them, I bring my big rifle case as a blast shield
