I've been a member of the 29 Palms Pistol and Rifle club since 2005. The dues are $50/year, and you get:
-24 hour access
-Pistol/rimfire range out to 50 yards
-"Cowboy Action" range
-Big-bore rifle range (we had targets out to half-mile, but due to Edison having power lines illegally on our lease, shooting is held to 500 yards until Edison either buries or moves their power lines. This situation has been adjudicated, and Edison is supposed to act on this by this summer)
-Range house with running water and flush toilets
This club is one of my favorite things about the high desert. It's the best $50 I spend all year. There is no web-site, but the following link will lead you to the membership application, and code of conduct agreement forms.
To find the club travel east through Twentynine Palms on California Highway 62. Turn right on Pinto Mountain Road. The road terminates at the gate for the county dump, with the gate for the gun club immediately on the right.
