Lother Walther. You just right down what you want and mail it to them with the check. Call fist and get a price so you know what to pay. They have a turn around of about 6 week. so they say. I hear these are the finest barrels around so I cant wait to see how she shoots. Going to visit Jerry Saturday. Maybe We can have it together by saturday. I wont be able to shoot it though till I get that stock from BlueGrass. But I do have lots to do till then anyway.

Need advice.

I am thinkin about buying one of these finnish Trigger guards. They are suppose to be jam free. Would it be worth it for my setup? I do want this gun to be everything that it can be. Should I buy it and replace the Russian trigger guard I already have?

IMHO it's worth the upgrade on 2 counts one is with the scope mount in place clearing a jam is much harder than if there is no mount present. Second if it helps in loading that's a plus as well.

The other question is with all that new hardware why wouldn't you want to upgrade the mag assembly to be prevent any jam. In a word YES.

AHA!
So that's what they are....
I have a small pile of spare magazines that come as part of a package with bolt bodies I buy for bent bolts.

I found a few that had been modified- wouldn't even fit in the 91/30 action I use for test fitting stocks- feed lip is too wide, and extends too far forward. The receiver would have to be modified slightly to accept it.

Hmmm those could be Blindee mags modded for 8mm mauser, you can tell the Finnish modded mags have a HV stamped on the side and there is a bump on the side of the mag.

I got a late start to Jerry's place and wish I hadn't. We spent so much time working we did not get to talk as much as I would like to have.

I had everthing with me that we needed except my Bluegrass stock which is still .. well I don't know. lol I did forget my screws for the Rock solid scope mount. More on that later.

Image
The setup that Jerry both recommends and uses is very nice. The aluminum bushings do a nice job of protecting the action and the barrel. Something that is very important for a build like this.
Image
Image
I was really serprised at how easy the barrel came of this one. Usually its like 400-600lbs but this one was in the 150-250lbs range.
Image
My receiver was really ruff. Nothing had been polished on this thing at all except for perhaps the bolt face that was actually nice and true already so no work needed there.
Image
Image
Jerry noticed that the chamber had been cut too deep so he is working here on shallowing it and correcting the depth of the threads too.
Image
Image
Jerry siad he had to do some scary stuff so I was polishing the receiver. Turned out pretty good. Cant wait to see how it Blues.

Putting it back together. And checked headspace.
Image
Cutting the Extractor groove.
Image
Truing up the bolt face.

New Rock solid mounts have some hole issues. They are too small. Probably the new coating. These will have to be filed or milled to a larger size so we can get the screws through and cant the mount for more scope range. The receiver also proved to be particualary tricky and tuff. We broke two tap dies on the second hole. Had to stop cause we did not have any more dies so this project will have to continue another day. Thanks for Reading.

Here is a photo for your viewing pleasure. This of course sis not the stock I intend to finish with. I ordered a stock from Bluegrass almost 4 months ago so maybe it will be done soon. Bluegrass are you there?

The Bolt handle looks a bit long. Well maybe I mean really long. But I wont make a decision on that till I see it in the stock.
