Well this is a 11 degree crown, so it is playing some tricks on the camera.... It actually has the boxy look like yours instead of completely round appearance. I actually just bought a m39 sako barreled action from pat burns that I'm going to chop and fully customize.

Had a chance to shoot today right before I had to leave and go to work... I fired 10 rounds at 75 yds. This is the first time I've shot it since doing the crown work, the first 2 hit a little low and right. Think there may have been just the slightest of a burr... The next 8 cut one single hole that was about the size of a dime, wow what a difference that new crown made!!! :D

Quick and easy test for a crown job is an old gunsmith method- a Q-tip...

Run it around the crown, and inside- any cotton get's pulled off, and you know you've got a burr.

That's a nice setup, priced right, from Manson.

I get great results from the PTG cutter I use- but would have bought Manson's system had I known about it.

The ball-end allowing self-alignment is a great idea. I used a cordless drill on very low speed until the crown is crown is fully squared-up, then finish it by hand.

I do wonder why he calls it a "Military Rifle" crowning kit, though. With your choice of pilots, it's a good tool for any rifle.

I'm a bit puzzled by the polishing accessories though. I fail to understand why felt polishing discs need to be "precision cut" to fit the crown..It's just polishing, no material being removed, and I don't see any downside to the cheap cone-shaped felt pads I use on my dremel for final polishing.

Nice looking crown. I did a lot of checking around before cutting mine as to whether to take the cut all the way to edge of the barrel, or leave a small "flat" on the outside. Consensus I got was that it really didn't matter as far as accuracy goes.

And that's what I was going for, The crown was very worn and I had to set it back nearly 1/4" to get it to shape up. But the Manson setup is awesome!

Well I have come across an original 28/76 stock that I will pick up in the near future... Decided to put it on my marksman 28/76 and use the bluegrass stock that's ordered on my m39 build... So I did some polishing on one of my original 28/76 triggers and got it like butter... Put the timney on my m39... Hope to get more progress soon

Where did you come up with an M28/76 stock?? I'd like to pick up one eventually.

I've got an M28/76 barrelled action also... except for threading the bolt handle and putting a bigger knob on, and sweeping the handle back at the middle joint/angle... I'm going to leave it as is. I.E. stock trigger, no cocking piece mods... etc.

Mine came without sights... or a base. I'm going to try and see if RSI will make a base for me that's about a 1/4" lower since the bolt handle can accomodate it.
