The RSI bolt spring is longer than the original by about an inch. Don't worry it still fits but it is slightly more difficult to assemble the bolt.

Ok so here are the pictures of the Finnish M39 and the components to be assembled. Sorry for the crappy photos. I tried several diiferent shots and these were the best I'll try again Monday when I actually start. Somethng about building guns on Valentines day that didn't sit well with the wifey. I also noticed something in the barrel. Tuesday when I go back to work I will scope it to get a better look at it. Looks like scoring.
Thinking depending how far the pitting or scoring or whatever it is, if anything is down the barrel or cutting the barrel down approx. 4-6 inches. Any input on that? :?: Welcome any and all advise. Thanks

This is the scope I am looking at using on the rifle once complete. Haven't purchased it yet. Millett Tactical TRS-1 30mm 4-16x 50mm Rifle Scope.

Any thoughts on this scope? Good, bad, indifferent? Thanks

The spring will set after a couple boxes of ammo, it will become easier to assemble as the spring settles in. I've have another spring kit I'm working on at the moment, but that is still top secret.

That looks like a nice M39. From what gather if you're going to cut the barrel 22" seems to be the magic number on the 91/30 but I'm not sure if that applies to a M39 also. I'm using a SWFA SS 16x on my custom built Mosin it's fixed magnification for $300 built to mil-spec by Tasco believe originally under a navy contract. Even at its price it's been compared to some premium scopes. I'm not knocking the Millet I just don't know about it so I'm just telling you about the scope I have and a lot of the others on this board have.

I have yet to shoot with my spring installed but look forward to it. We have been getting an unusual amount of snow here over the past few weeks so I haven't made out.

An M39 usually goes for about 450$ plus. I just bought a Mosin in the configuration your thinking of making for 220$ why would you decrease the value of your gun?

Get a highwall they are much better for modding cause they have a stronger receiver.

The millet scope is low quality. I would not spend the money on it. Get a SWFA SS or Bushnell elite tactical 10x. Or even a Nikon buckmasters is better than the millet. SWFA wins hands down though.

Before you cut the barrel, run a couple patches of Never Dull through it. Maybe it's not permanent.
