Hey guys, I have an update for you all... I finally had a chance to shoot this silent beast today...I grabbed 10 rounds I had loaded that are only necked sized for my white 28/76 and headed outside, funny thing was that the rounds were formed to the white mosin chamber and fit this one perfectly. ..you could feel the shoulder on the chamber and the bolt closed normally, I guess the Finns made these to exacting tolerances...I bore sighted by looking through the barrel and adjusted the scope and fired four rounds to get on target...I followed up with six shots without giving a cooling period and I was amazed by the results...

well the pic is turned 90 degrees but the results, oh my...keep in mind this is the original 28/76 trigger...the higher flyer was my fault, a big bug flew into my head on the trigger squeeze...this is six consecutively fired rounds with 4 in one hole at 100 yds in the prone position off my bipod without a bag, suppressed. ..

what do you think?

That is actually supper supper good. The vertical stringing is a load issue. You can fix that and get a group half or 1/4 that size with a ladder test. I would say she has HUGE potential.

Grimstod I totally agree, it's a great shooter...I think it will out do my shooting abilities...I'm using 175 gr smk, I'm tempted to try the berger 185 gr juggernaut...it's not as jump sensitive as the vld... my next step is to get some video together and get it posted. ..

Well I was trying out a new load today for my silent but deadly. I recently purchased some 190gr SMK that wanted to give a try and I was totally surprised with the outcome. I started with 50 gr of imr 4350 and worked up to 53.5gr... I loaded them with the same oal as my 175 smk ' s so I can use the magazine. Not one single 4 shot group went larger than moa at 100yds. But I found my magic load of 52gr that put them all in one ragged hole. 52.5 seemed promising also, but my load will be 52 gr with a 190gr bullet. The quality of the finn 28/76 barrels are second to none!!! :D. Can't wait to get a chance to shoot this one at a distance!

Try 52.2gr you may get it even tighter. Sounds like that is where you sweet spot is.

I still haven't had a chance to do any video of shooting her suppressed yet...but I have been getting together some range gear and preparing to do it right. This rifle will definitely outshine me and my ability to shoot!

Update:

Took this old girl out for a dance recently to the range I just joined!!! I took her out to 700 yds with my 175gr load and to 600 with both my 190gr loads....according to my ballistic app the 190's are only going about 100 fps slower than the 175's.... they are going 2630 fps...I did shoot to 750 with the 175's, but they REALLY begin to drop out past 700...
