My heavy mosin nagant build thread

Postby Deathsythe311 » Fri Feb 06, 2015 9:29 am

I want to start a thread so I can get input and direction on my road to build this bad boy. So I'll get started with my current build parts.

I have ordered my barrel through Jerry, a heavy bull barrel in .311 and I order another Boyd's tacticool stock for this build with Jerrys mag adapter. Later today I'll be ordering a scope mount and bolt with RSI. My concerns are with the weight of the barrel do I need to do anything to support it in the stock? Can I let it free float? Anyone know any gunsmiths in az that can install the barrel? I'll post pictures and updates these next few months along with range reports when I get to that point.

Your barrel will be ok free floated. No problems there.

Free float a heavy barrel, they are much more rigid than a standard Mosin barrel. That and the better heat dissipation are kind of the point of a heavy barrel.

Have all the stuff just waiting on shep for the adapter and barrel. Once it's here I'll take one.

Well here is my build. I also have a Finnish trigger that's on the receiver. It's a 1918 remington that was destroyed and the only thing left is the receiver. Now I really don't think I can free float this thing with my barrel this heavy. Thoughts?

That's going to be sweet. This has me wishing I had some more disposable income right now for one of those adapters. And I really like that stock.

How was the rifle destroyed?

Some good Finn rifles are stripped and sold for parts. More money in it that way for the seller.
