3 Mosin's in a Russian way...

Postby vtb275 » Mon Mar 02, 2015 12:37 pm

Well. decided to share.

we just took three 91\30 made way back in 1944 and decided to mod them a bit.

1 shall have barrel 26" long,
2 shall have barrel 18" long.

Mods done
1. Barrel cut, re-crowned, threaded to M!4x1LH, rear sight removed, rear sight base removed, barrel finished to be blued.
2. action: side scope mount removed, holes welded, rear "bridge" closed (welded), rear action screw hole welded and re-located (to make rear action screw go from the bottom, action tail straightened.
3. Bolt handle cutted, relocaded to the rear, changed to the green mountain rifles one
4. stock trigger replaced with Timney, 1 port muzzlebrake shall be installed, stock changed to Boyds, pillars glued in, action and pillars bedded with Devcon.

Current stage - we're making 20MOA sight base to screw to the action and weld together with action. After that we should blue everything :)
Oh yes - once mags from A will come in - we'll make a triggerguard for detachable mags.

Wow those look great. Is this a service you provide or are you selling these rifles as complete packages. Or are they for your own personal use? Either way very nice.

Very cool!! 8-) 8-)

I love the bolt handle relocation. I've done one so far, on a project that will hopefully be done before the summer rush.

I ended up using a rem 700 SA 20 MOA base that's been modded a little, and bedded.

It's going in a Lowel L96 stock, so I made the bolt handle to be somewhat of an AI look-a-like.

Another mod that I think is pretty cool, is altering the cocking piece so it doesn't even look remotely like a Mosin. You can see what I'm talking about here... viewtopic.php?f=5&t=4614

Keep up the good work, and I'm definitely looking forward to seeing these rifles complete!!

Really like These. Wish I had the talent to bridge the receiver like that.

Was that really a 600$ PU sniper?

Be careful --- I have a provisional patten on a mag adapter that uses the AA mag and the people from P-- M-- have given me crap about it.

The supplier who will make the adapter is in Tula, Russia.
We consider to try Vepr magazines out - but they will require making bottom hole in the receiver bigger.

That was the problem I had also. I tried the Vepr single stack mag and it required machine work to set up. I wanted something that didn't change the original receiver or require special work to set it up. Inletting the stock to fit is all you have to do. I wanted anyone to be able to use my adapter.
