Did a little snack production for deer season

Postby ShootnMathews » Mon Sep 19, 2016 8:23 pm

Your belly always gets hungry at some point sitting in a stand waiting on that dream buck to walk by, so quality snacks are essential. I took the time this past week to make 21 pounds worth of summer sausage and sweet & spicy jerky. All out of last years left over deer burger. I packaged all the summer sausage in 1 lb vacuum packs for freezing and the jerky in about 4 oz packs. I even made up some of what I call "day Hunter" packs for the rut season when I hunt all day. In those I put about 3/4 pound of summer sausage already sliced, several pieces of Amish smoked cheddar, and about 4 oz of jerky. All vacuum packed for easy packing and just grab and go hunting. Throw a pack of townhouse crackers in your back pack with a Day Hunter and you got a nice variety to get you through the day.

Lol. Sure. I just made another 4 lb of Sweet and Spicy jerky and 2.5 lb Bourbon BBQ jerky last night. I may or may not kill that monster buck, but I will not go hungry waiting on him. ;)
