JFK shot, impossible, hard, or simple?

Postby ShootnMathews » Fri Dec 06, 2013 12:12 pm

At work here we listen to a lot of different things while working. Lately JFK was all over tv being the anniversary and all. The more we listened to the experts and theorists talk about how tough or impossible the shot would be to make and how all these expert marksmen have tried and can't make it. I think that's all hooey. I've been doing some research on the numbers and plan on recreating the shot this spring. I feel confident I can "make" the shot. Setting it up will be very time consuming. Both in research and setup. So far I've come up with a 19 degree down angle, a first hit at 60 meters in the neck and the fatal head shot at 82 meters, and a car speed of 11.2 mph. A lot of this is guesstimation by various parties so I will take an average of all the info I gather.

What are your thoughts on this??

Should be interesting. I don't think the shot is impossible. These conspiracy theorist drive me nuts sometime :lolno:

I believe the shot itself is possible.

That being said, there were 3 recorded shots heard in less time than that rifle can supposedly do, though that could have been echo.

Either way, the above might be something else to add to your test, if you're so inclined.

I remember seeing this done on the discovery channel and the marksman was able to pull off the shots and hit the target. Granted they did not use the exact location and or a building. He was shooting from a man lift. I'll have to see if I can find it.

The times that I am coming up with, again these vary with every source you look at, are 8.3 sec between the first and third shots and 1.7 sec between the second and third shots.

I think I have seen the show you speak of Mark. The one I am thinking of was more of a study of the bullet damage on the head, and he was shooting from a scissor lift at a stationary replica head (set at the right angles) to see if the exit and splatter matched reports. This could be another show all together also.
