ShootnMathews, I'm hoping it gets some attention. I'd love to shoot with other M/N enthusiasts. I went into the shop I bought mine at, where there used to be a wide selection, and none were to be found. I was amazed at how much the M/N supply had dried up.

I'm seeing the same thing here, and the ones I do find they are asking a premium. A few years ago they were selling them every day here for $99. Now most of the ones I find are selling for $279. There's no one I can justify buying them to mod at that price when I can buy a stock Marlin X7 for $359 and simply work up a load and have a half minute or better gun. Just yesterday I worked up a load for a Xs7 7mm-08 that shoots .38 moa. The gun was $359, $35 set of Burris zee rings, and a $200 Bushnell elite tactical scope for a total of $600 in the gun. How can you beat that for a sub-1/2 moa gun? They are literally starting to price the Mosin out of the market except for collectors.

I too am hoping to get some guys together. I had a great time two years ago but we shot at my house and the neighbors who said it would be fine to use their field kinda screwed us in the afternoon. This time I have squired access to a pretty nice range with benches for 10 shooters at a time (if 4 are left handed) and steel out to 590 yards. I think if we can get some shooters this should be an epic shoot. Right now I know of 4 that are intending to come. (Counting me)

I'm with you entirely on the cost...it's hard to justify that kind of money! We don't have any around here on the shelves at the present.

Let me know and I'm there when you have the shoot out!

Just tell them you feel like they've been deprived of the full mountaineer experience.
