Well if I've got it right it looks like an early Finnish capture rifle. The [SA] mark tells you that, the stock also looks like a Finnish modded stock. I didn't see any photos of the rear site. Is it different than a standard Mosin?

Reworked M91/30?

Well, you made a great deal. Finn capture Mosins go for $150 and up usually. The front globe was replaced with a blade, that was probably the Finns. The round stock splice fingers indicate wartime production. Check any stocks for a "potbelly" style, those are particularly favored.Image

The rear leaf groove is typical Russian production, and matches my '29 Izhevsk (which is NOT Finn capture).

pre WWII rear sight has the long groove. during the war they came with less machining ... 1939 was last year for sling slot escutcheons with 2 screws.

The Finns assembled these from many parts, given the front sight replacement, I imagine the rear leaf was replaced from an early unit as well as the stock. Hence the term "Finn Matched".

the date stamped into the reciever is 1939 so it sounds like alot of last year for this part and those parts. now i just need another 91/30 so get creative with. this one is too cool to fool around with

Ya I would def preserve that gem. Great find Sgtwalker
Does anyone know what the numbers on the side of the receiver are for? I am referi g to picture 8. Everything that I have read says that it's an indication of x sniper. Is it did for fun captured models?
