Any good deals on a bolt assembly?

Postby TheRighttoBearArms » Thu May 03, 2012 4:42 pm

Good Afternoon, Gentlemen.

I regret to inform all of you that I left my bolt assembly in the degreaser, hot water, cosmoline stew for too long. All night, actually. This morning, I found that most of the cosmoline has been removed but there are now a few dark spots on various parts of the bolt assembly. I assume this reflects the degreaser eating away at the metal? The parts are solid but these dark spots catch the eye. Any thoughts? Either way, I think it might be wise to invest in an after market bolt.

Cordial Regards,

RBA

Dremel with wirebrush attachment will get in the crevices and give it a nice sheen. You can even throw in some metal polish to work at the corrosion. (But wear goggles)

Hmmm what kind of degreaser were you using? Get a brass brush that will fit in your drill press and buff away. Unless you can see physical pitting I'd almost bet it will buff out.
