Shooting my .22 LR @ 200 yds

Postby 0933 » Tue Oct 22, 2013 3:14 pm

Watch on youtube.com

The target video was shot with my iPhone 4S through my spotting scope set on 40x. The side veiw video was shot with my digital camera (an Optio W30). I used AVS, Windows movie maker, and Movavi to edit/splice the video.

The rifle is a Mossberg 42m(a) thas was built in 1944 or 45. The full build is here viewtopic.php?f=165&t=121988&p=989861#p989861

At 200 yds, the bullet drops 23 MOA (46 inches) from a 50yd zero. The time of flight is almost 3/4 of a second. A 1 mph wind will move the strike of the round 1.5" at that range. The 40 grain bullet is still travelling in excess of 800 fps, and is lethal.

The shoot-n-see sticker is 3" in diameter.

I hope you guys enjoyed!!

its a mazing how much fun and how easy it is to shoot a 22. I have a lowly 99$ ruger that shoots same hole all day at 100yards. It will get one of my barska scopes soon. The higher power should let me shoot farther. Curretnly it has a simons 30$ scope on it that is painful to look though.

Great shooting T. One of these days I think I'll build me some sort of great shooting 22LR. I'll have to buy one though. All the LR's I have carry a lot of sentimental value. Too much to modify.

Great job with the video also T

I just inherited my grandfather's old Remington 512 and it will still outshoot me. What a blast it is to shoot rimfire again after all these years!!
