Introducing a friend to the Mosin

Postby Grimstod » Fri May 03, 2013 4:56 pm

A buddy of mine recently purchased his first Mosin Nagant. Its a 1938 Izzy just like my first one but with a counter board barrel. He noted that it shot rather high ant to the right. I had him shoot with his bayonet on and it brought his groups much closer to center.

I also shot some of my own guns. My laminated Mosin shoots incredibly well even with open sites. I was really amazed at what it could do with surplus ammo. Next I tried some of the Match grade sniper ammo from russia and My PE Izzy 1938 just loves it. Shot the best group I have ever shot with it. Had one flyer but I think that was me. Did not shoot a second group cause I was getting sore from all the recoil. I still find it amazing that a 30-06 that is feather light has less recoil than any of my Mosins.
