I regularly shoot my 32 Tula sporter out to 800 yds, she has an SWFA 10X SS on her... though the farthest I've shot her was 1360 yds with 2nd and 3rd round hits. That target was 20"x30". I typically stick with targets that are 2-3 MOA atleast... and 10X is ok for that.

The higher powers definitely help with smaller targets and longer distances. I'm seriously considering bumping up to the SS 3-15X or the Vortex Viper 4-16X on my M28/76. I'm planning on shooting 190 grain SMK's, and if I can get 2600 fps, I'd be approaching .300 win mag performance.

Again, good shooting... your definitely making me want mine up and running!!

Both are nice scopes thou I personally like the Vortex better.

Do you have a materials list that you used for the target?

Len Backus has3/8" AR 500 targets at a super reasonable price. Just slightly higher than what I paid for pieces of 1/4" mild steel to make my own. And with my mild steel targets about 500 is as close as I can shoot them with my Mosin. Closer than that and it almost goes thru.

The plain square and round AR500 plates of Lens are the best priced ones.

Len's AR500 steel targets

Also. As far as cheap stands goes. I go to lowes and get 3/4" steel conduit in 10' sticks. Off of each stick cut two 3' sections. Then you will have four 3' pieces and two 4' pieces. Have a lowes person ( or just grab a bender off the shelf) and bend each end of the 4' pieces to a little less than 90 degrees. The 4' pieces are your top bars and the 3' pieces the legs. Use 3/4" conduit connectors to assemble each half and then I drill holes through the top bar to assemble them into a stand.

Somewhere I have pics of mine I will post. These make handy stands that take down easy for storage or transport.
