'43 Tula PU, one mile, video.

Hi guys

This is it! Still disappointed, got close but the target didn't ring. May be a mile is just...a bit too far but it was a good day no matter what

Wow I want to come shoot some there. I would not be ashamed at not hitting it. That is so far with only 3.5x scope. To get as close as you were that is a big achievement. You are a great marksman.

Also I did some ballistic calculations and maybe I am doing something wrong but its telling me that at that range and altitude your bullets should still be supersonic.

Ok so at 2500fps they go subsonic at 1400. Apparently shooter doesn't understand the diferance between the G1 and G7 BCoficiants.
But still with a 28in barrel on the stock Mosin you could probably get your speed a little higher and maybe reach out farther. Especially at that altitude. Of it was hotter it would help to. Air is less dense and powder burns a little harder.

Actually subsonic is around 1100-1150 fps

Heck of a video, and great shooting!

Super or Subsonic, those rounds were still going fast enough to audibly ricochet.

I would not be willing to stand in place of that target.

One good tell that they are subsonic is that you can hear the gunshot right before the bullet gets there.

Ben when you put your bullet info in shooter there's a box for G1 or G7 BC.

Awesome shooting anyways. I'd love to have a place like that to shoot. It's all mountains here.

Excellent shooting -- can you see the target at that range? With the target white and the background light tan -- thats just amazing. Makes me what to work harder. Thats the next metal -- the one mile club.

When you did your calculations did you adjust for BP? Mine also says 1100 but when I change BP from 29.34 (the average for my area) to the BP of 23 (that he lists in video) it goes up to 1400. Remember that the only thing that really slows down a bullet is hitting air. With 21% less air you can shoot farther.

What other variables are you using??

I plugged in G1 B.C. of .499 that retards (.493 between 2200 & 1800fps), and .480 below 1800 fps, MV of 2400 fps (He refrenced this velocity in an earlier video viewtopic.php?f=9&t=5144&p=19594#p19594 ) DA of 2523 ft, and temp of 51.7 degrees. Using those, I'm still getting a transonic zone around 1150 yds.
