Unusal Head-stamp

Postby Grindl » Wed Dec 06, 2017 2:20 pm

With the developing shortage of available brass , I recently purchased some "once-fired" brass from a supplier , and while processing it , I came across several cases with a head-stamp I had never seen before . It is : "J M S" , at the top , and the date of "0 2" . If anyone can tell me where this brass was manufactured , I'd appreciate it . It is of excellent material and construction . Wish I had a thousand more like it . And it is Boxer primer , too .

I found this on the ATFE website

"7.62x54R Ball ammunition, reportedly US DoD contract for the new Iraqi/Afghani forces, copper jacketed, lead core projectile, brass case, brass percussion primer, red primer sealant, ring primer crimp. Packaging & cartridge construction similar to IK production, but possibly Privi Partisan production. Headstamp JMS 02"

Hope that helps

Thanks , Mark . It does match the PPU in primer pocket depth , and over-all appearance . Just seems constructed from a little better quality brass material , and the DoD contract would explain that . Gotta meet the ole mil-spec requirements .
