I can't stand PPU brass though. So many of the primers pockets leak. Seams like I throw out 10% of them. After you give Lapuas and some of the nicer brands a try the PPU stuff just seams like junk.

Oh there is another manufacturer that is going to be coming out with 54r brass. Its as good as Lapuas and cheaper too. I am really looking forward to giving it a try. It should be going on sale sometime this summer.

I have had decent luck with the PPU . Not great , but decent . Up till now , our choices have been PPU , S&B , and Winchester , along with some occasional Euro stuff that shows up Boxer primed .
Your turnin into a "Brass Snob" , Grim .
But it's understandable when you start shooting serious L/R as we both have . No room for error of any kind in that realm .

Have heard good stuff about some of the other Peterson Brass , so I hope their 54r cases are as good . Thanks for the heads-up . I'll be looking for them .
To bad Lapua doesn't make some small primer 54r cases . That would be hot ...

Small primer would not work unless your run a really fast powder. Any time the powder column is over 1.5in you get hang fires with small primers. They are not always noticeable but imagine what it does to harmonics. The 54r is just to big a case for small primers.
