Varget load data wanted

Postby farmerboy78 » Thu May 26, 2016 4:28 am

I'm considering getting away from 4350 or at least diversify my mosin loads. I'd like some min and max charge weights for a 174 - 180gr bullet. Thanks

For the 174 gr bullets 39.3 gr. is the minimum and 46.2 gr. is the maximum. That's from the Hornady manual.

They don't have varget listed for 178-180gr bullets in that manual.

Just saw this post Farmerboy . I am using Varget w/a 174gr SMK and the load I arrived at was 42.8gr Varget , and a OAL of 2.950". Primer is a CCI BR-2. Tried most of the primers during ladder testing , and the BR-2 was the most consistent in my girl at a 1,000 yds. They're pricey ; but every round is in the black , and I don't get any pressure signs , so it works for my set-up . Good Luck on the switch-over .
If not me.....Who ?
If not now ....When ?
