Hodgdon H414 Powder

Postby Marauder 1 » Mon May 06, 2013 3:09 pm

I found some of this and it looks promising, anyone ever used it?

Hodgdon H414
This spherical powder has an extremely wide range of use. From the 22-250 Remington to the 375 H & H, it will give excellent results. It is simply ideal in the 30/06. As with all of our spherical powders, it delivers incredibly consistent charge weights through nearly any type of powder measure. H414 yields similar results to H4350 in most cartridges, although charge weights will vary. Available in 1 lb. & 8 lb. containers.

Now my Load Book specs out H4350 as a powder that works with 170 grain and up. It does seem to however yield slower bullet speeds at around 2400 fps

I've read online where some people say it's similar to W760 which I've had great results with, but W760 yield much higher velocities than H414 for some reason.

Thanks
Mark

Any results to report with the H414? I found it in stock at Grafs, took a gamble and bought 8lbs. If it isn't swell with 7.62x54r, I can still use it for 30-06 and maybe .270 win.
