762x54r Improved First Die

Postby Shepard » Fri Jan 09, 2015 4:15 pm

I've been asked how I will resize my brass for my Wildcat. Sense neck sizing is the best way to size target brass I chose the Lee Collet Die. Then added a shim to make it the proper length for the new brass.
I really like Lees Collet die because its more of a Machine then other companies neck dies. Interchangeable bushings are cool but you can do the same by having Lee polish you a different size mandrel thats already offered. The Lee Die uses 4 spring loaded fingers to compress the brass neck on to a polished mandrel. That mandrel can be sized whatever you want.

I have a carbide reamer coming in a few weeks and the first job will be opening up a full size standard die to the Improved round. I figure after 3-4 firings they'll need full sizing.
