Buck down with my LR 243

Well I didn't use my Mosin but I did get a decent buck on the ground today. I used my Long range 243 rig. Although he ended up coming all the way in to 80 yards. Made a perfect shot so I was surprised that he went almost 100 yards with a golf ball sized exit hole. We try to shoot bucks 3.5 years or older at the farm. His guy was at least 3.5. If not 4.5 buck his rack was not that spectacular for his age. He was just barely a 9 pt.

Nice buck, what did he dress out weight wise? Looks like it's Venison for Christmas dinner... Nice shooting Jared.

I'm not sure what he weighed. I know in most states weighing them is a common practice but in my area no one ever weighs them. I don't even know a place with scales to weigh it. I will say his body was larger than average size here.

Now I just need to get the big one. My neighbor at home ( I killed this buck at farm) said he saw one here two weeks ago with a 18-20" spread. I'd love to see that guy.

If its a pretty decent one, like this one I do a European skull mount. If I get any more shoulder mounted, they will have to be exceptionally big. Mostly because of the cost is so high anymore. Small racks just kin da lay around here. But they never go to waste. I us some for rattling while hunting.

I have found some sheds but at my farm in late season most of the bucks migrate towards my neighbors large foodplots. And he finds most of the sheds. I did find a really nice matched set once year here. Both sheds about 1' apart.

Nice.. It's to hard to find sheds here in CA. I keep looking though.
