The 2020 SWN is past , and even the 600 was rough this year . The wind was only one of the enemies this year . The other was the cold . Temperature was 35 - 36F when the 1st Relay went to the line , with a chill factor of 26F . The high temp for the day at Ben Avery was around 51-52F . The winds were from 8.5mph , gusting to around 14mph , mostly from the west-northwest , and then began switching , dropping to near zero , and switching to the east , then south , then back to the west again . A fun day was had by all....NOT ! I shot poorly , and attribute it more to the cold , than the wind , as I have generally shot well in the wind before . Hard to shoot well when your hands keeping dropping your rounds while you're trying to load , and shaking with chills from head to foot . After-all ; I am a Desert Rat , and we think 50F is WINTER . There's always next year .....

I've gotten to shoot in more sane conditions since the SWN and have close to 500 rounds down the new barrel. Anyone out there considering a after-market barrel must look at the Bartlein MTU profile . It is a heavy barrel , so I wouldn't recommend it for a hunting , or PRS type rifle . For competition , a 30" finished length is almost mandatory , and David at Coyote Creek has the correct reamer for a "F"class build . It will enable you to load from 185gr. Juggernaut OTM , to 200gr Hybrids , the 200.20x and the new 208gr Hybrid Target bullets longer than "Mag Length" , to find the best accuracy . I did manage to shoot a 200 - 20X on a calm day at 600 , once . I shot five of the new 208's using my 200.20x load at 600 , and had 3-10's and 2-x's . Decent for five shots .
